Vera’s research primarily dwells upon the intersection of physics and metaphysics; in particular, at the heart of her interests lies the question of how we should metaphysically understand the physical ontology underlying physical theories. Thematically, she has worked on electromagnetic fields, the wave-function in Bohmian Mechanics, quantum entanglement and quantum gravity. At the Centre for Formal Epistemology her research focuses on the relation between mathematical formalism and the epistemological appraisal of the foundational theories of physics. Vera was educated at the University of Milan and at the University of Hong Kong, where she received her PhD in the Philosophy of Science. She also studied at King's College London for one year during her master’s, and at the University of Aberdeen and Rutgers University during her doctoral program.
